Ohio Wesleyan 56, Lake Forest 42

[ Kyle Holliday ]Junior wing Kyle Holliday (Van Wert) scored 7 points and senior post Dustin Rudegeair had 5 as Ohio Wesleyan opened the second half with a 22-2 run and held Lake Forest to 11 second-half points on the way to a win over the Foresters in the consolation game of the Midway Classic, hosted by the University of Chicago on Sunday in Chicago.

Trinity claimed the tournament championship with a 63-58 win over host Chicago in Sunday's title game.

Lake Forest trailed only once in the first half, that coming in the opening moments when senior wing Brian Cafarella (Westerville/North) buried a 3-pointer for a 3-2 Bishop lead.

Leading, 11-10, the Foresters then took off on an 11-0 run, capped by Laird Walker's lay-in, to take a 22-10 lead with 6:07 left in the first half.

The Bishops sliced the margin to 28-23 on a tip-in by senior post Ryan Rozak (Fairview Park/Fairview), but Hoyt Rees hit a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the half to give the Foresters a 31-23 lead at halftime.

Holliday opened the second half with a pair of free throws, and a 3-pointers by senior guard Casey Teeters (Westerville/Columbus St. Charles) and Cafarella brought the Bishops within 33-31. Teeters added a free throw and Rudegeair buried a 3-pointer to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay at 35-33. Rudegeair followed with another bucket before Holliday hit a 3-pointer and a lay-in, and junior wing Kyle Miller (Delaware/Hayes) finished the run with a 3-pointer that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 45-33 lead with 9:15 left in regulation time.

The Foresters would come as close as 11 points, but Ohio Wesleyan did not allow Lake Forest to tally consecutive scores and kept the margin in double figures for the remainder of the game.

Cafarella led the Bishops with 14 points, while Holliday and Rudgeair finished with 12 points apiece. Rudegeair grabbed a team-high 7 rebounds and Miller led the Bishops with 4 assists.

Rees led the Foresters with 14 points, while Walker finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Teeters represented Ohio Wesleyan on the all-tournament team.
