Ohio Wesleyan 10, Elizabethtown 3

[ Nick Gallagher ]Junior attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) compiled a goal and 2 assists and senior midfielder Chris Eccles (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) had a goal and an assist to highlight a 4-0 run that helped Ohio Wesleyan seal a non-conference win over Elizabethtown on Saturday in Elizabethtown, Pa.

After the teams battled through a scoreless first quarter, senior midfielder Steve Fowler (Wilton, Conn.) put the Bishops on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 10:10 mark of the second period.

Eccles followed with an unassisted score at the 7:37 mark, but the Blue Jays pulled within 2-1 on a goal by Josh Dougherty less than a minute later.

Eccles then found Gallagher for a score with 4:55 left in the first half, and Gallagher set up scores by senior attacker Harrison Iuliano (Mendham, N.J./Blair Academy) and sophomore attacker Chris Ehlinger (Radnor, Pa) in the next 90 seconds. Eccles scored with 1:10 to play in the half to finish off the Bishop run and give Ohio Wesleyan a 6-1 lead at the intermission.

Eccles led the Bishops with 2 goals and 2 assists, while Fowler finished with 2 goals and Gallagher added a goal and 2 assists.

Senior Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, making 6 saves in the fourth quarter and finishing the day with 12 stops.

Jon Day led the Blue Jays with 2 goals. Hunter Malick made 11 saves in the Elizabethtown goal.
