Ohio Wesleyan 21, Washington & Jefferson 4

[ Nick Gallagher ]Junior attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) scored 5 goals as Ohio Wesleyan built an 11-2 halftime lead and went on defeat Washington & Jefferson in non-conference action on Saturday at Selby Field.

Gallagher scored off a pass from sophomore attacker Rob Young (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, then added an unassisted goal for a 2-0 Bishop lead.

T.J. Mollica scored less than a minute later to bring the Presidents within 2-1, but Ohio Wesleyan finished the quarter with scores by senior midfielder Steve Fowler (Wilton, Conn.), senior attacker Harrison Iuliano (Mendham, N.J./Blair Academy) and senior midfielder Chris Eccles (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) for a 5-1 lead.

John Foran's goal early in the second quarter brought Washington & Jefferson within 5-2, but the Bishops held the Presidents off the scoreboard for the rest of the period while getting 3 goals from Gallagher and single goals by Iuliano, Young and junior midfielder Connor McGowan (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) to extend their lead to 11-2.

Young had 3 goals in the third quarter to help Ohio Wesleyan pull away, and freshman attacker Shaun Crow (Gaithersburg, Md./The Bullis School) had a pair of goals to highlight the Bishop fourth quarter.

Gallagher led the Bishops with 5 goals and an assist, while Young finished with 4 goals.

Senior Ryan Perone (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) started in the Bishop goal and recorded 3 saves in 37-plus minutes. Freshman Jud Hall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) had 4 saves in 17 minutes, freshman Frankie Weschler (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) made 1 save in the fourth quarter and freshman Andrew Busweiler (West Islip, N.Y.) finished up in the Bishop goal.

Foran scored 2 goals for Washington & Jefferson. Quinton Thorne had 10 saves in the President goal.
