Seven Bishops Picked to All-NCAC Teams,
Martin Named NCAC Coach of Year

[ Nick Skoczen ]A total of 7 Ohio Wesleyan University men’s soccer players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.

Senior midfielder Nick Skoczen (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and freshman forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) were first-team All-NCAC selections, freshman midfielder Chad Baker (Dublin/Jerome), freshman midfielder Ryan Harmanis (Hilliard/Davidson) and sophomore back Kevin McGowan (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) were second-team all-conference choices, and senior back Ben Brewer (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) and senior goalkeeper Jamison Dague (Bexley) were honorable mention picks.

Skoczen ranked second on the team in scoring with 7 goals and 5 assists, and shared the team lead with 3 game-winning goals. He was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2006.

Wall led the Bishops in scoring with 8 goals and 4 assists.

Baker ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 5 goals and 4 assists, and shared the team lead with 3 game-winning goals.

Harmanis, a defensive midfielder, combined with McGowan and Brewer to anchor an Ohio Wesleyan defense that allowed only 17 goals in 22 games and compiled 12 shutouts, with Dague compiling a league-leading 10 shutouts. Brewer was a first-team All-NCAC pick in 2005 and a second-team choice in 2006, while Dague received second-team honors in 2006 and honorable mention laurels in 2005.

Ohio Wesleyan head coach Jay Martin was named NCAC Coach of the Year. The Coach of the Year citation is the second in a row and seventh overall for Martin.

The Battling Bishops finished with a 15-2-2 record. Ohio Wesleyan finished second in the NCAC championship race and won the NCAC tournament title, with the Bishops advancing to the NCAA Division III tournament for the NCAA-record 30th time.
