Allegheny 3, Ohio Wesleyan 0

Oct. 6, 2007

Peter Subasic scored what proved to be the game-winning goal and Allegheny added a pair of insurance scores in the second half to record a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened early, with freshman forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) getting off a shot on goal in the third minute, then Wall and freshman forward Tyler Bryant (Chillicothe/Unioto) firing on goal in rapid succession in the ninth minute, only to see Gator keeper Ryan Larkin stop each one.

Subasic put the Gators on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal in the 21st minute.

Allegheny kept up the offensive pressure, but Bishop keeper Jamison Dague (Bexley) stopped shots by Nathaniel Yates and Jeremy Garbutt to keep the score at 1-0.

Despite playing a man down after a red card late in the first half, Ohio Wesleyan kept up the attack, but Larkin stopped 2 more shots in the opening minutes of the second half. Sophomore midfielder Will Murawski (Alpharetta, Ga./Westerville North) and freshman midfielder Ryan Harmanis (Hilliard/Davidson) had shots in the first 10 minutes of the half.

The Gators took a 2-0 lead on Pat Doherty's unassisted goal in the 68th minute, and made it 3-0 when Eric Sloan scored on a free kick in the 76th minute.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Allegheny, 20-10. Dague finished with 4 saves, while Larkin had 12 saves for the Gators.
