![]() Ohio Wesleyan 1, Transylvania 1 Nov. 9, 2007 Transylvania outscored Ohio Wesleyan, 6-5, on penalty kicks and advances to the second round to face John Carroll at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Trailing, 1-0, in the closing minutes of regulation time, the Bishops evened the game when freshman midfielder Chad Baker (Dublin/Jerome) sent a crossing pass into the box from the right side. Freshman back Brian Greene (Beavercreek) played the ball back into the middle and Skoczen finished from right in front with 5:11 remaining in regulation time. Ohio Wesleyan put together a threat in the closing minutes of the first overtime as Skoczen sent the ball into the box to set up freshman forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington), but Wall couldn't get a clean look at the goal. The Pioneers nearly ended it early in the second overtime as Matt Karaffa ripped a 20-yard shot that Ohio Wesleyan keeper Jamison Dague (Bexley) tipped up and off the crossbar. On the ensuing corner kick, Karaffa played a header toward the Bishop net that Dague tracked down for the save. The Bishops took an early lead in the shootout when Wall converted his kick and Dague stopped a kick by Transylvania's Matt Vogel.
