[ Jeff Hering ]Senior Jeff Hering (Sherborn, Mass./Palo Alto (Calif.)) was a double winner in leading Ohio Wesleyan over Wittenberg in a North Coast Athletic Conference match on Tuesday at the OWU Tennis Centre.

The win was the Bishops' first of the season in conference play and could not have come at a better time as teams look to improve their seeding in the upcoming NCAC championship tournament.

Hering rallied to defeat Wittenberg's Daniel McNeeley in split sets at No. 6 singles, taking a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 decision. Earlier, he had teamed with freshman Zach Weaver (Westerville/South) for a win at No. 3 doubles.

The Bishops won 5 of the 6 singles flights in the match. Sophomore Brandon Luttinger (Hingham, Mass.) won in straight sets at No. 2 singles, junior Daniel Thangarajah (Dublin/Scioto) fought through cramps to post a gritty 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, junior Taimour Khan (Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison) cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, and junior Garrett Paknis (Morristown, N.J./Madison) won in straight sets at No. 5 singles.
