![]() 1st of 7 at Kenyon Kickoff Jan. 19, 2008 Junior Preston Osborn (Edgerton) and freshman Jack Schemenauer (Luckey/Eastwood) each won an event and helped a relay team to a first-place finish as Ohio Wesleyan resumed its season with a win at the Kenyon Kickoff meet on Saturday in Gambier. Ohio Wesleyan piled up 234 points to 142 1/3 for second-place Otterbein. Capital was third with 97 points, followed by Washington & Jefferson (61), John Carroll (51 1/3), Kenyon (44 1/3) and Denison (18). Osborn won the 400-meter dash in a time of :51.95, while Schemenauer won the 55-meter hurdles in :08.15 and added a third in the 400-meter dash. The duo combined with junior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) and junior Nathan Osborn (Edgerton) to win the 1600-meter relay in 3:30.03. Also winning events for the Bishops were junior David Stefanik (Wooster), who won the mile run in 4:33.90 and finished third in the 3000-meter run; and sophomore Christian Schlabach (Wooster/Triway), who won the 3000-meter run in 9:04.79. Ohio Wesleyan's other first-place finish came in the 800-meter relay, where the team of Ellis, freshman Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes), freshman Jordan Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy) and Nathan Osborn won in 1:32.45. Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore David Burke (Hudson), who placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump; junior Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who was second in the 55-meter hurdles and fifth in the high jump; Ellis, who finished second in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Kyle Faris (Olmsted Falls), who was second in the shot put; Exeter, who finished third in the 55-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash and the long jump; junior Garret Andre-Johnson (Walnut Creek, Calif./Berkeley), who was third in the 800-meter run; sophomore Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), who placed third in the 55-meter hurdles; freshman Jon Voiles (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), who was third in the pole vault; Patrick, who was fourth in the 55-meter dash; sophomore Bryce Mathias (Centerburg), who placed fourth in the 400-meter dash; freshman Jon Boll (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt), who was fourth in the 500-meter run; junior Alex Havran (Woodinville, Wash./Overlake), who finished fourth in the mile run; senior Joe Berlyoung (Elyria/Avon), who was fourth in the 800-meter run; freshman John Thatcher (Centerburg), who placed fourth in the 3000-meter run; junior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who finished fourth in the pole vault; freshman Parone Mulrain (Chicago, Ill./Latin School), who was fifth in the long jump and triple jump; Nathan Osborn, who placed fifth in the 200-meter dash; and freshman Ethan Baron (Ambler, Pa./Germantown Friends), who finished fifth in the 500-meter run. |
