at Kenyon Invitational

[ Matthew MacKenzie ]Sophomore Matthew MacKenzie ( Franklin, Mass.) won an event to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Kenyon Invitational on Friday in Gambier.

The meet, which included competitors from Allegheny, Capital, Denison, Kenyon, Mount Union, Ohio Wesleyan, Ottawa, Otterbein, Rio Grande, Wittenberg, and Wooster, was not scored.

MacKenzie won the 1000-meter run in a time of 2:39.49 and added a 10th-place finish in the mile run.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Parone Mulrain (Chicago, Ill./Latin School), who was third in the triple jump, fourth in the long jump and 10th in the 200-meter dash; freshman Jeff Driscoll (Shreve/Triway), who placed fourth in the 800-meter run; senior Joe Berlyoung (Elyria/Avon), who was fourth in the 1000-meter run; senior Michael Tornifolio (Stow), who tied for fourth in the pole vault; freshman Charley Lafe (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley), who placed sixth in the long jump; and sophomore Josh Sulser (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe), who was ninth in the shot put.
