McMurry finished third with 92 points, followed by Rhodes (74), Albion (71), Mississippi College (64), Aurora (53), Centre (37) and Fisk (33). Hendrix rounded out the top 10 team finishers with 32 points, followed by Alma (31), Sewanee (25), Principia (15), Birmingham Southern (6) and Dallas (3). Burke won the long jump with a leap of 20-11 1/4. He also finished second in the triple jump and third in the high jump. Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were junior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who won the pole vault by clearing 13-11 1/4; sophomore Christian Schlabach (Wooster/Triway), who won the 1500-meter run in 4:05.08; junior Garret Andre-Johnson (Walnut Creek, Calif./Berkeley), who won the 800-meter run in 1:58.16; and junior Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who won the decathlon with 5708 points. Other standouts for the Bishops included junior David Stefanik (Wooster), who was second in the 3000-meter steeplechase; junior Clay Davis (Dublin/Coffman), who placed third in the 5000-meter run; sophomore Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), who was third in the 110-meter hurdles; senior Joe Berlyoung (Elyria/Avon), who was third in the 800-meter run; freshman Jordon Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy), who placed third in the long jump; sophomore Bryce Mathias (Centerburg), who was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles; junior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who placed fourth in the 200-meter dash; junior Brandon Hunter (Twinsburg), who was fourth in the javelin; senior Pete MacLeod (Hudson), who was fifth in the 5000-meter run; junior Gary Brenneman (Fredericktown), who was fifth in the 1500-meter run; sophomore Matthew MacKenzie (Franklin, Mass.), who placed fifth in the 800-meter run; and junior Alex Havran (Woodinville, Wash./Overlake), who was fifth in the decathlon. |
