2nd of 10 at Kenyon Spring Invitational

[ Preston Osborn ]Junior Preston Osborn (Edgerton) and sophomore Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford) won events to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Kenyon Spring Invitational on Saturday in Gambier.

Ohio Northern won the meet with 189 points to 98 for Ohio Wesleyan. John Carroll was third with 85 points, followed by Oberlin (69 1/2), Capital (69), Wooster (67), Denison (55), Otterbein (31), Kenyon (28 1/2) and Hiram (1).

Osborn won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of :54.96, while Brown won the 110-meter hurdles in :15.06.

Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Bobby Polley (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), who finished second in the javelin and sixth in the hammer; junior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who was second in the 400-meter dash; freshman Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes), who placed third in the 400-meter dash; freshman Jack Schemenauer (Luckey/Eastwood), who placed third in the 110-meter hurdles; sophomore Bryce Mathias (Centerburg), who was third in the 400-meter hurdles; sophomore Josh Sulser (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe), who finished third in the hammer; junior Nathan Osborn (Edgerton), who was fourth in the 200-meter dash; freshman Parone Mulrain (Chicago, Ill./Latin School), who placed fifth in the triple jump; freshman Kyle Herman (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), who was sixth in the 800-meter run; junior Gary Brenneman (Fredericktown), who was sixth in the 1500-meter run; and freshman Jon Voiles (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), who finished sixth in the pole vault.

The Bishop 400-meter relay team of freshman Jordon Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy), Ellis, Nathan Osborn and Patrick finished second.
