at Indiana Billy Hayes Invitational

[ Ryan Ellis ]The Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team of junior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), junior Nathan Osborn (Edgerton), freshman Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes) and junior Preston Osborn (Edgerton) qualified for the NCAA Division III championship meet during the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University on Friday in Bloomington, Ind.

The Bishop quartet finished third in a time of 3:16.68, surpassing the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Division III championship meet to be held May 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.

Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Alex Havran (Woodinville, Wash./Overlake), who finished eighth in the javelin; sophomore David Burke (Hudson), who placed ninth in the triple jump and 12th in the long jump; and sophomore Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), who was 11th in the 110-meter hurdles.

Ellis added a 17th-place finish in the 400-meter dash, while Preston Osborn was 19th in the 400-meter hurdles.
