at Capital Crusader Invitational

Sophomore Bryce Mathias (Centerburg) and freshman Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes) won events to lead the Bishops at the Capital Crusader Invitational on Saturday in Columbus.

The meet, which included competitors from Capital, Central State, Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, Wilmington, and Wittenberg, was not scored.

Mathias won the 400-meter dash in a time of :53.06 and added a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles.

Patrick won the 200-meter dash in :23.07 and finished fourth in the 55-meter dash.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Jack Schemenauer (Luckey/Eastwood), who placed second in the 55-meter hurdles and fourth in the 400-meter dash; junior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who finished second in the 200-meter dash; freshman Jordan Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy), who was third in the 55- and 200-meter dashes; sophomore Dain Malaniak (Poland/Seminary), who placed third in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash; junior Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who was third in the 500-meter run; sophomore Josh Sulser (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe), who finished third in the shot put; sophomore Kyle Faris (Olmsted Falls), who was third in the weight throw; and junior Bobby Polley (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), who placed fifth in the shot put.
