Bishops' Lester, Osborn Named NCAC Players of Week

[ Kelli Lester ]DELAWARE, OHIO -- Ohio Wesleyan University senior Kelli Lester (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) and junior Preston Osborn (Edgerton) have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 18, it was announced by the NCAC.

Lester, a post on the Battling Bishop women's basketball team, scored the tying basket with :49 left in regulation time and sank a free throw with :20 remaining to put the Bishops ahead to stay in a 63-62 win over Wittenberg on Wednesday. Lester finished with 16 points, including a 4-for-5 performance from 3-point range, and led the Bishops with 7 rebounds. The win gave Ohio Wesleyan a sweep of the regular-season series against Wittenberg for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. She then hit a 3-pointer that capped a 13-1 Ohio Wesleyan run that put the Bishops ahead to stay in a 69-57 win over Allegheny on Saturday. Lester finished with 9 points and shared the team lead with 5 rebounds.

Osborn, a member of the Bishop men's track & field team, was named NCAC Sprinter/Hurdler of the Week. He won the 400-meter dash in a time of :50.70 to lead Ohio Wesleyan to a third-place finish at the Division III All-Ohio championship meet on Saturday. Osborn also led off the Bishops' third-place 1600-meter relay team.
