Named NCAC Players of Week

[ Maggie Eichenlaub ]DELAWARE, OHIO -- Ohio Wesleyan University senior Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) and senior Joey McDaniel (Dublin/Scioto) have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the week of May 5, it was announced by the NCAC.

Eichenlaub, a goalkeeper on the Bishop women's lacrosse team, was named NCAC Player of the Week. She stopped 8 shots during the second half as Ohio Wesleyan stretched a 6-3 halftime lead to 13-6 with just over 5 minutes to play in an NCAC tournament semifinal win over Allegheny. She finished with 11 saves. Eichenlaub then had a season-high 17 saves in a 14-13, triple-overtime win over Wooster in the NCAC tournament championship game. She made a save on a Wooster shot with :06 left in regulation time, sending the game into overtime, and preserved the deadlock with a save of a free position shot in the second overtime period.

McDaniel, an outfielder-pitcher on the Bishop baseball team, was named NCAC Player of the Week. He had a 2-run single that gave Ohio Wesleyan an early 4-3 lead in the first game of an NCAC tournament semifinal series at Wooster. In Game 2, a 6-3 Ohio Wesleyan win, McDaniel scored twice and pitched 2.1 innings of hitless relief to earn a save and force a third game. He also started Game 3 on the mound, working 3.0 innings, and scored 2 runs as Ohio Wesleyan claimed a 14-6 decision and won the series.
