Bishops' Boryczewski, Saunders
Named NCAC Players of Week
Sept. 10, 2007
DELAWARE,
OHIO -- Ohio
Wesleyan University senior Diana Boryczewski (Kensington, Conn./Kingswood
Oxford) and junior Tommy Saunders (Gallipolis/Gallia Academy) have been
named North Coast Athletic Conference Players of the Week for the week
of Sept. 10, it was announced by the NCAC.
Boryczewski, a defender on the Ohio Wesleyan field hockey team, set up
the game-winning goal in the Bishops' 2-0 win over Wooster on Saturday,
snapping Wooster's 17-game NCAC regular-season winning streak. Against
Oberlin on Wednesday, she converted a penalty stroke with 3:30 left in
regulation to tie the game at 2-2 and send matters to overtime. She also
helped keep the Bishops in the game by recording a pair of defensive saves.
Saunders, a linebacker on the Ohio Wesleyan football team, led the Bishops
with 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in Saturday's 20-14
loss to Catholic. The Bishops held Catholic scoreless and limited the
Cardinals to 117 yards total offense during the second half.
