Named NCAC Players of Week

DELAWARE, OHIO -- Ohio Wesleyan University junior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) and senior Nick Skoczen (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 24, it was announced by the NCAC.

Schmelzer, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan women's cross country team, led the Bishops at the Otterbein Invitational on Saturday. Schmelzer finished 10th among individuals, completing the 6000-meter course in 23:07.

Skoczen, a midfielder on the Ohio Wesleyan men's soccer team, scored the game-winning goal with 6:02 left in regulation time as Ohio Wesleyan began defense of its North Coast Athletic Conference championship with a win over Wabash in the conference opener for both teams on Sunday. He then compiled a goal and 2 assists, including an assist on the game-winner, in Ohio Wesleyan's 5-0 win over Otterbein on Wednesday.
