Ohio Wesleyan 4, North Park 2

March 10, 2008

Sophomore outfielder Krystle Skaziak (Dublin/Scioto) singled home an insurance run to cap a 2-run sixth inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over North Park in the Bishops' season opener on Monday in Fort Myers, Fla.

North Park had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth, taking advantage of a pair of Bishop errors to push across a pair of unearned runs.

Ohio Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, when a North Park error on a ball hit by freshman outfielder Tara VanVranken (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) scored both sophomore second baseman Devon Walker (Baltimore/Watkins Memorial) and Skaziak to tie the game.

The Bishops took the lead in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore righthander Catrice Mayweather (Lewis Center/Olentangy) drew a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice by sophomore third baseman Rita Cook (Sidney/Fairlawn). After taking third on an infield out, Mayweather scored the winning run when sophomore outfielder Rachel Seibel (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) hit a drive that was misplayed by the North Park rightfielder. After Walker singled Seibel to third, Skaziak followed with a base hit to deliver the insurance run.

Mayweather worked the complete game in the circle to pick up the win.
