Sophomore third baseman Rita Cook (Sidney/Fairlawn) crushed a solo homer in the sixth that brought the Bishops within 3-2, then delivered an RBI single to highlight a 3-run seventh inning that lifted Ohio Wesleyan over Drew in non-conference play on Tuesday in Cape Coral, Fla.
Ohio Wesleyan trailed, 3-1, going into the bottom of the sixth before Cook's blast brought the Bishops within a run.
In the bottom of the seventh, freshman outfielder Tara VanVranken (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) reached on an error and was forced at second by senior catcher Miranda Simmons (Norwalk). Sophomore first baseman Catrice Mayweather (Lewis Center/Olentangy) followed with a walk before Cook's single scored pinch-runner Sarah Truchan (Brunswick).
Cook went 2-for-4 and scored twice during the game.
Mayweather pitched the complete game for Ohio Wesleyan, striking out 8 Drew batters.
