[ Rita Cook ]Sophomore third baseman Rita Cook (Sidney/Fairlawn) cracked a 2-run double and sophomore lefthander Rachel Seibel (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) struck out a career-high 15 batters as Ohio Wesleyan blanked Salem State on Wednesday in Cape Coral, Fla.

The Bishops jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first when sophomore outfielder Krystle Skaziak (Dublin/Scioto) singled and stole second. Sophomore shortstop Amanda Sanders (Lima/Bath) followed with a walk, and after freshman outfielder Tara VanVranken (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) singled home a run, Cook blasted a double to plate Sanders and VanVranken.

Senior catcher Miranda Simmons (Norwalk) and sophomore first baseman Catrice Mayweather (Lewis Center/Olentangy) drove in runs in the fifth inning to account for the 5-0 final.

Sanders and VanVranken each scored twice for Ohio Wesleyan.

Seibel went the distance in the circle for Ohio Wesleyan, striking out 15 Salem State batters.
