Sophomore first baseman Catrice Mayweather (Lewis Center/Olentangy) launched a home run to send the game into extra innings, but Olivet pushed across a run in the top of the eighth and held on for a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday in Granville.

The Bishops trailed, 3-2, going into the bottom of the seventh when Mayweather led off with a home run off Comet starter Katie Harper. Sophomore outfielder Sarah Cook (Sidney/Fairlawn) later belted a 1-out double, but was stranded at second base.

Olivet took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth as Heidi Wear was placed on second, moved to third on Kacie Rosencrans's single and scored on Mayweather's error off the bat of Beth DeLora.

Ohio Wesleyan jumped to an early 1-0 lead when sophomore second baseman Emily Bradley (Columbus/Upper Arlington) reached on Harper's error, moved to second on a sacrifice, and scored on another Harper error.

The Comets took a 2-1 lead in the second, stringing together 2 walks, a wild pitch, an error and an RBI single by Felicia Smith.

Sophomore outfielder Krystle Skaziak (Dublin/Scioto) tied the game in the sixth, reaching on Smith's error, moving to second and then to third on infield outs and scoring on an error by Olivet first baseman DeLora.

Olivet answered with a run in the top of the seventh, loading the bases on singles by Jenny Robbins, Smith and Courtney Praski before Anna Braner lofted a sacrifice fly to score Robbins.

Sophomore lefthander Rachel Seibel (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) pitched the first 7.0 innings for the Bishops, striking out 11. Mayweather came on in the eighth and was charged with the loss.
