outside hitter Stefanie McCoy (Powell/Olentangy) and senior outside hitter
Steffi Graf (Poland/Seminary) turned in double-digit performances in kills
and Ohio Wesleyan set a school record during the first day of the Holiday
INNvitational tournament, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College
on Saturday in Washington, Pa.
Ohio Wesleyan defeated Dickinson by scores of 30-25,
30-13, 30-28 and
swept Pitt-Greensburg by scores of 30-7, 30-22, 30-24. The 7 points allowed
in the first game against Pitt-Greensburg broke the school record for
fewest points allowed in a single game, eclipsing the mark of 8 set against
Lake Erie on Aug. 29, 2003.
McCoy collected 11 kills and a team-high 4 service aces and Graf contributed
9 kills and led the Bishops with 18 digs to pace the Bishops against Dickinson.
Junior setter Shea Pence (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) dished out
26 assists and junior middle hitter Katie Hamilton (Hilliard/Darby) recorded
5 blocks.
Against Pitt-Greensburg, Graf led the way with 10 kills and 20 digs and
McCoy added 9 kills. Pence directed the Bishop offense with 28 assists
and freshman middle hitter Stacey Tighe (Lewis Center/Olentangy) added
5 blocks.
