[ Steffi Graf ]Senior outside hitter Stefanie McCoy (Powell/Olentangy) and senior outside hitter Steffi Graf (Poland/Seminary) led the way as Ohio Wesleyan advanced to the de facto championship match of the Holiday INNvitational tournament, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College on Sunday in Washington, Pa.

Ohio Wesleyan opened the day by defeating Centre by scores of 30-28, 30-21, 20-30, 30-24. Winners of their first 3 matches, the Bishops then faced Washington & Jefferson, also undefeated in the tournament, for the championship. The Bishops won the third and fourth games to force a decisive fifth game, but the Presidents held on to win by scores of 30-28, 30-21, 20-30, 19-30, 15-7.

Against Centre, Graf compiled 21 kills and McCoy added 14 more to highlight the Bishop offense. Junior setter Shea Pence (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) led the Bishops with 32 assists and added 32 digs, senior middle hitter Kelli Lester (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) had a team-high 5 blocks and senior libero Jaime Scharf (Marion/River Valley) led the Bishops with 33 digs.

McCoy led the Bishops with 22 kills and Graf added 21 kills and a team-high 44 digs in the championship match against Washington & Jefferson. Pence contributed 29 assists and freshman middle hitter Stacey Tighe (Lewis Center/Olentangy) led the Bishops with 3 blocks.

Graf and McCoy represented the Bishops on the all-tournament team.
