[ Steffi Graf ]Senior wing Steffi Graf (Poland/Seminary) scored 8 points during a 14-0 first-half run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay in a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Wednesday in Oberlin.

The Yeowomen broke the ice with Roneisha Kinney's fast-break lay-in in the first minute of the game.

Graf hit a 3-pointer that put the Bishops ahead to stay, and after freshman post Kayla Gordon (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) was fouled and hit 3 free throws, Graf came back with a lay-in and a 3-pointer that gave the Bishops an 11-2 lead with 14:07 left in the first half.

Freshman guard Pam Quigney (Mentor) added a 3-pointer that stretched the Bishop lead to 14-2 with 11:09 remaining in the period.

Syrea Thomas hit a jumper that ended Oberlin's scoring drought of nearly 9 minutes, but the Bishops pulled away with another Quigney 3-pointer that restored the double-digit lead at 17-5 at the midway point of the half.

Oberlin kept close, coming within 29-19 on Emily Chu Finkel's jumper from the lane with 3:41 left in the period, but Ohio Wesleyan got back-to-back 3-pointers from Quigney in a span of less than a minute late in the half, and pulled away with 3-pointers from senior guard Kathleen Cooper (Columbus/Upper Arlington), Graf and freshman wing Tyler Cordell (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) to stretch the lead to 55-25 less than 5 minutes into the second period.

Quigney led the Bishops with a season-high 28 points, while Graf finished with 18 points. Gordon grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds and Cordell led the Bishops with 3 assists.

Kinney led Oberlin with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
