[ Kayla Gordon ]Freshman post Kayla Gordon (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) scored 3 points during an 11-0 first-half run that helped Ohio Wesleyan break open a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Hiram on Saturday in Hiram.

The Terriers had closed to within 7-5 on a 3-pointer by Stephanie Zunic with 13:36 left in the first half, but Hiram would not score again for more than 8 minutes.

Ohio Wesleyan answered with a pair of free throws by senior guard Kathleen Cooper (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and a pair of free throws from senior wing Steffi Graf (Poland/Seminary).

Gordon followed with a lay-in, freshman wing Tyler Cordell (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) and freshman guard Pam Quigney (Mentor) added baskets, and Gordon capped the Bishop run with a free throw that gave Ohio Wesleyan an 18-5 lead with 6:21 remaining in the half.

Brittany Mayle ended the Hiram drought with a 3-pointer with 5:25 to play, and the Terriers would close to within 20-12 after Mayle and Ally Cook each hit a pair of free throws, but that was as close as Hiram would come.

Ohio Wesleyan pushed the lead back into double digits with a basket by senior post Malley Adamsky (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and stretched the margin to 35-18 when sophomore guard Lauren Gentene (Mason) beat the first-half buzzer with a jumper. The Bishops would lead by as many as 27 points during the second half.

Junior post Laurel Lawson (Navarre/Fairless) led Ohio Wesleyan with 10 points. Gordon grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds and Graf, Lawson and Cordell shared the team lead with 2 assists apiece.

Zunic led Hiram with 15 points and Cook finished with 10 points. Alex Dellas led the Terriers with 9 rebounds and Zunic and Cook shared the team lead with 3 assists each.
