Junior attacker Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) scored to tie the game at 2-2, but Allegheny finished the first half with a 5-1 run and went on to defeat the Bishops in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

Jensen Paterson had given the Gators a 1-0 lead just 14 seconds into the game, but Mudge's goal with 19:19 left in the first half evened matters at 1-1.

Ashley Hughes then scored for a 2-1 Allegheny lead, but once again Mudge had an answer, scoring with 13:34 left in the half to tie the game at 2-2.

Lana Cannon scored less than a minute later to put the Gators ahead for good, and Hughes converted a free position shot for a 4-2 Allegheny lead with 10:34 left in the period.

Sophomore midfielder Abbey Miller (Wollwich, Maine/Morse) brought the Bishops within 4-3 at the 9:59 mark, but the Gators got a score from Paterson and 2 goals by Christina Zanic, the latter on a free position shot with :01 left in the half, to take a 7-3 lead at halftime. Zanic scored twice and Cannon once as the Gators stretched their lead to 10-3 early in the second half.

Mudge led the Bishops with 2 goals. Senior Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) had 13 saves in the Bishop goal.

Zanic finished with 4 goals and an assist to lead Allegheny. Hughes added 3 goals and 2 assists and Paterson scored 3 goals. Lesley Stange stopped 4 shots in the Gator crease.
