![]() Ohio Wesleyan 20, Oberlin 9 April 5, 2008 Sophomore attacker Jessica Copeland (Ligonier, Pa./Foxcroft (Va.)) scored off an assist by sophomore defender Lauren Rogers (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) just 23 seconds into the game, and Porter scored off a pass from junior attacker Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) exactly 2 minutes into the contest. Porter then fed Deaton for a goal, then scored an unassisted goal before finding senior attacker Julia Fouts (Cleveland Heights/Hathaway Brown) for a goal that gave the Bishops a 5-0 lead just over 5 minutes into the game. Senior midfielder Kadi Kuhlenberg (Cincinnati/Anderson) finished off the Bishop run with an unassisted goal less than a minute later. Maddie Fierstein put the Yeowomen on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 7:04 mark, but the Bishops answered by reeling off the next 6 goals, with Deaton scored 3 times and Mudge, Fouts and senior attacker Polly Burke (Milton, Mass.) adding a goal apiece. Sophomore midfielder Abbey Miller (Wollwich, Maine/Morse) scored 2 goals and sophomore midfielder Haleigh Rohr (Nelson, N.H./Northfield Mt. Hermon (Mass.)) added a goal as Ohio Wesleyan stretched its lead to 15-2 at halftime, and Mudge scored 2 goals to highlight the Bishop offense during the second half. Deaton finished with a team-high 5 goals, while Porter finished with 2 goals and 4 assists. Mudge added 3 goals and 2 assists, and Burke, Copeland, Fouts and Miller had 2 goals apiece. Senior Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) had 5 saves in the Bishop goal. Scarlett Prati finished with 4 goals to lead Oberlin. Kaitlin Barrer stopped 8 shots in the Oberlin crease. |
