![]() Ohio Wesleyan 12, Wooster 11 April 23, 2008 The Fighting Scots raced to a 6-0 lead midway through the first half, with Hillary Darragh and Carly Carey scoring 2 goals apiece. Copeland put the Bishops on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal, and senior attacker Polly Burke (Milton, Mass.), senior attacker Julia Fouts (Cleveland Heights/Hathaway Brown) and Kuhlenberg followed with goals as Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 7-4 at halftime. Kuhlenberg scored twice and Copeland once during a 3-0 run that pulled the Bishops within 8-7 with 22:52 left in regulation time, and after Nina Dine scored for Wooster, Ohio Wesleyan reeled off the next 4 goals, with Kuhlenberg and Copeland scoring to even the game at 9-9 and Fouts following with a goal for a 10-9 Ohio Wesleyan lead with 7:44 remaining. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Teigen (North Oaks, Minn./Totino-Grace) followed with a goal to give the Bishops an 11-9 lead. Carey ended the Ohio Wesleyan run with a goal to make it an 11-10, but Burke recorded an insurance goal to restore the 2-goal lead. Carey's goal with :52 to play accounted for the 12-11 final. Kuhlenberg led the Bishops with 4 goals and an assist, while Copeland added 3 goals and an assist. Senior Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) had 9 saves for Ohio Wesleyan. Carey led the Fighting Scots with 4 goals and 2 assists. Jamie Dannenberg finished with 15 saves for Wooster. |
