Junior midfielder Megan Quinn (Hilliard/Columbus School for Girls) scored to put the Bishops ahead to stay
and senior forward Meredith Gerrick (Durham, N.C./Indianapolis (Ind.) North Central) added a goal and an assist to help put the game out of reach as Ohio Wesleyan defeated DePauw in non-conference action on Saturday at Roy Rike Field.
Ohio Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute after a turnover in the DePauw end. Quinn pounced on the loose ball, found herself one-on-one with Tiger keeper Brooke Shipley, and finished the chance to put the Bishops ahead.
Gerrick scored on a similar play in the 28th minute, coming up with a loose ball in the DePauw end after a Tiger turnover and beating Shipley one-on-one.
Gerrick had a chance to give the Bishops a 3-0 lead early in the second half, fielding a centering pass from senior midfielder Meg Smith (Portage, Mich./Northern), but her shot was just high.
Smith and Gerrick fared much better on their next connection. Smith centered the ball from the right side in to Gerrick, who made a one-touch pass on to junior forward Michelle Corbett (Dublin/Scioto). Corbett found the back of the DePauw net for a 3-0 Ohio Wesleyan lead in the 62nd minute.
Sophomore forward Caitlin Logan (Findlay) nearly increased the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 4-0 in the 73rd minute, but her header off a Bishop corner hit the crossbar and was cleared.
DePauw got on the scoreboard in the 85th minute. Emily Petrus had the ball inside the Ohio Wesleyan box, spun around a defender, and ripped a shot into the Bishop goal to make it 3-1.

Gary (Gahanna/Lincoln) had 1 save in the first half, while freshman Laura VanHoey (Rochester, Mich.) made 3 saves during the second half. Shipley was credited with 6 saves for the Tigers, while Lauren Palfrey had 2 saves during the final 12 minutes.
