Sept. 22, 2007

Kacie Klynstra scored midway through the first half to put Messiah ahead to stay, and Jennifer Myhre scored twice to highlight a 4-goal second-half eruption as the Falcons defeated the Bishops in non-conference play on Saturday at Roy Rike Field.

Messiah took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Stef Rowe sent a through ball to Klynstra, who finished the chance.

The Falcons got some insurance early in the second half when Emily Cope hit a shot from the top of the box for a 2-0 lead, and stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 61st minute as Avie Fitzgerald connected into the top left corner.

Myhre finished off the scoring in the late going, heading home a pass from Amy Horst in the 84th minute and hitting a shot from the top of the box in the 90th minute.

Messiah outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 22-9. Senior Ali Gary (Gahanna/Lincoln) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, making 8 saves. Brindley Beckwith stopped 5 shots in the Falcon goal.
