7th of 8 at NCAC championship

[ Katherine Donnan ]Senior Katherine Donnan (Columbus/Bishop Hartley), sophomore Erin Hanahan (Madison/Perry) and senior Kara Roby (Massillon/Washington) turned in top-10 finishes to lead Ohio Wesleyan on the third and final day of the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet on Saturday in Canton.

Kenyon won the championship with 1630 points to 1615 for Denison. Wooster finished third with 886 1/2 points, followed by Allegheny (835 1/2), Oberlin (659), Wittenberg (624), Ohio Wesleyan (555), and Hiram (489).

Donnan finished sixth in the 1-meter diving, while Hanahan placed ninth in the 1-meter diving and Roby was 10th in the 1650 freestyle.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Kendra Klossner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), who finished 11th in the 200 backstroke; senior Natalie Cuevas (Chicago, Ill./Latin School), who was 13th in the 1-meter diving; freshman Brenna Irrer (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), who finished 14th in the 200 breaststroke; junior Katie Keleshian (Richmond Heights/Regina), who placed 15th in the 1650 freestyle and 19th in the 200 backstroke; junior Tarenne Ferenchak (Haddonfield, N.J.), who was 18th in the 1650 freestyle; junior Meghan Warren (Marlton, N.J./Shawnee), who placed 18th in the 200 backstroke; freshman Marisa Obuchowski (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville), who was 20th in the 200 backstroke; junior Caitlin Hagen (East Lyme, Conn.), who was 21st in the 200 breaststroke; junior Katie Germano (Towaco, N.J./Montville Township), who placed 22nd in the 200 butterfly and 23rd in the 200 backstroke; sophomore Ashley Rosenquist (Willits, Calif.), who finished 22nd in the 1650 freestyle; junior Megan Downing (Mentor/Gilmour Academy), who finished 22nd in the 200 breaststroke; junior Kim Leary (Chagrin Falls), who was 23rd in the 1650 freestyle; and senior Rachel Ryan (Kinnelon, N.J.), who placed 24th in the 100 freestyle.

The Bishop 400 freestyle relay team of Klossner, Obuchowski, Keleshian and Ryan finished eighth.

Ohio Wesleyan diving coach Brian Book was named NCAC Women's Diving Coach of the Year.
