6th of 8 at NCAC Relays

Junior Katie Keleshian (Richmond Heights/Regina), junior Tarenne Ferenchak (Haddonfield, N.J.) and senior Rachel Ryan (Kinnelon, N.J.) posted the best finish by a Bishop swimming relay team as Ohio Wesleyan opened its season at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays meet hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier.

The annual lidlifter of the swimming season, the meet consists of relay events and is scored similarly to the conference championship meet. Denison won the meet with 172 points to 156 for runner-up Kenyon. Allegheny finished third with 98 points, followed by Wooster (94), Wittenberg (82), Ohio Wesleyan (72), Oberlin (62) and Hiram (56). Keleshian, Ferenchak and Ryan combined to finish 13th in the 1500 freestyle relay.

Junior Caitlin Hagen (East Lyme, Conn.), senior Kara Roby (Massillon/Washington), freshman Marisa Obuchowski (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville) and freshman Brenna Irrer (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) turned in a 14th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke relay.

Keleshian, Obuchowski, junior Meghan Warren (Marlton, N.J./Shawnee) and sophomore Kendra Klossner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) teamed to place 17th in the 200 backstroke relay; Roby, Obuchowski, Klosser and Irrer were 18th in the 400 IM relay; and Hagen, Ryan, Klossner and Roby combined to finish 19th in the 500 crescendo relay.

Other scorers for the Bishops included the 200 butterfly relay team of Roby, Hagen, Irrer and Ryan, which finished 21st; the 200 freestyle relay team of Ryan, Warren, Roby and Klossner, which placed 22nd; and the 200 medley relay team of Warren, Irrer, Obuchowski and Klossner, which finished 23rd.

Senior Katherine Donnan (Columbus/Bishop Hartley), sophomore Erin Hanahan (Madison/Perry) and senior Natalie Cuevas (Chicago, Ill./Latin School) combined to finish second in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
