2nd of 10 at Muskingum Invitational

Freshman Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve) won an event and helped a relay team to a first-place finish to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Muskingum Invitational on Saturday in New Concord.

Baldwin-Wallace won the meet with 163 points to 123 for Ohio Wesleyan. Walsh finished third with 120 points, followed by Muskingum (74), Ursuline (48), Kenyon (30), Ohio University (16), Marietta (6), West Liberty State (5) and Bethany (1).
Final results

Kekic won the 200-meter dash in :26.65 and added a second-place finish in the long jump. She also teamed with freshman Rachael Newman (Strongsville), senior Ashley Shaffer (Lancaster) and sophomore Kara Reiter (Chardon) to win the 1600-meter relay in 4:15.71.

Sophomore Santa Zalite (Winston-Salem, N.C./Reynolds) took Ohio Wesleyan's other first-place finish, winning the 800-meter run in 2:32.01.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Shaffer, who finished second in the high jump and fourth in the 800-meter run; sophomore Casey Ridgeway (Fredericktown), who was second in the 400-meter dash; freshman Tara Adams (Canton/North Canton Hoover), who placed second in the pole vault; junior Jessica Merrill (Columbia Station/Columbia), who placed third in the long jump, fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and eighth in the 400-meter hurdles; freshman Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson), who finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles; Reiter, who was third in the 1500-meter run; freshman Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who finished third in the 5000-meter run; sophomore Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), who was third in the discus; junior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant), who finished fourth in the 1500-meter run; and sophomore Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who placed fourth in the 5000-meter run.
