[ Casey Ridgeway ]Sophomore Casey Ridgeway (Fredericktown) won 2 conference championships to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet on Thursday and Friday at Selby Field and the George Gauthier Track.

Allegheny won the meet with 268 points to 199 for Ohio Wesleyan. Oberlin finished third with 134 points, followed by Wooster (86), Denison (50), Earlham (38), Wittenberg (30), Kenyon (12), and Hiram (2).

Ridgeway won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in respective times of :12.98 and :25.52. She also received All-NCAC honors with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash.

Also winning conference championships were sophomore Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), who won the discus championship with a throw of 121-3, won all-conference laurels with a third in the hammer, and placed seventh in the shot put; senior Ashley Shaffer (Lancaster), who won the 400-meter dash in :59.32, received All-NCAC honors with seconds in the heptathlon and triple jump and a third in the high jump, and placed seventh in the long jump; and freshman Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who won the 3000-meter steeplechase in 12:13.11 and finished eighth in the 5000-meter run.

All-NCAC citations also went to junior Jessica Merrill (Columbia Station/Columbia), who placed second in the long jump and added fourths in the heptathlon, triple jump and high jump, and an eighth in the 400-meter hurdles; sophomore Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who finished second in the 1500-meter run and eighth in the 800-meter run; freshman Rachael Newman (Strongsville), who was second in the 800-meter run; senior Donna Langerfeld (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill), who placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase; sophomore Amy Herrington (Vermilion), who was third in the discus and added an eighth-place finish in the shot put; and senior Malley Adamsky (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township), who finished third in the javelin; and sophomore Kara Reiter (Chardon), who finished third in the 800-meter run.

The Bishop 1600-meter relay team of Reiter, Newman, Everhart and Shaffer also won all-conference honors with a second-place finish.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg), who finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run and seventh in the 5000-meter run; senior Caitlin Dugre (Longmeadow, Mass.), who was fourth in the javelin; freshman Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson), who finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles; junior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant), who placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase; junior Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson), who was sixth in the 10,000-meter run; sophomore Santa Zalite (Winston-Salem, N.C./Reynolds), who finished sixth in the 800-meter run; and sophomore Amber Alegria (Tucson, Ariz./Salpointe Catholic), who was eighth in the 400-meter dash.
