[ Ashley Shaffer ]Senior Ashley Shaffer (Lancaster) won 2 events to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Capital Crusader Invitational on Saturday in Columbus.

The meet, which included competitors from Capital, Central State, Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, and Wilmington, was not scored.

Shaffer won the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run in respective times of 1:02.03 and 2:30.02.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Rowena Jones (Shutesbury, Mass./Amherst Regional), who finished second in the 400-meter dash; sophomore Ashlie Britton (LeRoy/Painesville Riverside), who was second in the 55-meter hurdles; sophomore Casey Ridgeway (Fredericktown), who placed third in the 55-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash; freshman Tara Adams (Canton/North Canton Hoover), who finished third in the 55-meter dash and tied for fourth in the pole vault; freshman Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve), who placed third in the 400-meter dash; freshman Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson), who was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles; sophomore Emily Washek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who tied for fourth in the pole vault; and sophomore Amy Herrington (Vermilion), who placed fifth in the weight throw.
