2nd of 8 at GLCA championship

Freshman Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Great Lakes Colleges Association championship meet, hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier.

Oberlin won the meet with 40 points to 50 for Ohio Wesleyan. Kenyon and Denison tied for third place with 89 points, followed by Albion (122), Wooster (164), Kalamazoo (183) and Earlham (225).

Zimmerly finished sixth among individuals, completing the 6000-meter course in 19:35.7.

Sophomore Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) followed in seventh place in 19:36.7, and junior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) finished eighth in 19:47.9. Freshman Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg) placed 13th in 19:57.8 and junior Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) finished off the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with an 16th-place finish in 20:02.2.

Sophomore Kara Reiter (Chardon) finished 26th in 20:38.8 and sophomore Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) placed 28th in 20:40.7.
