2nd of 13 at Gettysburg Invitational

Sophomore Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Gettysburg Invitational, hosted by Gettysburg College on Saturday in Gettysburg, Pa.

Dickinson, ranked 12th in NCAA Division III, won the meet with 37 points to 60 for Ohio Wesleyan. Grove City was third with 63 points, followed by Gettysburg (83), Shippensburg (132), St. Vincent (188), Johns Hopkins (193), Alderson-Broaddus (229), and Southern Virginia (287). Eastern Mennonite rounded out the top 10 with 309 points, followed by Villa Julie (326), Randolph (329), and Davis & Elkins (412).

Shinn finished ninth among individuals, completing the 6000-meter course in 23:34.66.

Junior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) finished 11th in 23:46.97, freshman Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) followed in 12th place in 23:48.94, sophomore Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) was 15th in 23:53.61, and junior Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 18th-place finish in 24:01.58.

Freshman Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg) was 19th in 24:05.75, placing the Bishops' top 6 runners in a span of only 31 seconds. Junior Valerie Sloboda (Columbia, Md./Atholton) finished 37th in 24:50.52.
