T3rd of 9 at NCAC championship

Freshman Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) led the way as Ohio Wesleyan led all North Coast Athletic Conference competitors by placing 6 runners on the All-NCAC teams, but the Bishops could not translate that lead into points and finished in a tie for third place at the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier. Allegheny won the meet with 58 points, edging runner-up Oberlin by a single point. Ohio Wesleyan and Kenyon tied for third place with 76 points, followed by Denison (81), Wooster (166), Wittenberg (222), Earlham (228) and Hiram (290).

Zimmerly and sophomore Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) were second-team All-NCAC selections. Zimmerly finished eighth among individuals, completing the 6000-meter course in 23:29, while Everhart finished 12th in 23:34.

Junior Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson), sophomore Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), junior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant), and freshman Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg) received honorable mention All-NCAC laurels. Binkley finished 17th in 24:00, Shinn was 19th in 24:06, Schmelzer completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 20th-place finish in 24:09, and Dackin placed 21st in 24:10.

Junior Valerie Sloboda (Columbia, Md./Atholton) finished 37th in 25:50.
