All-NCAC Baseball Teams, May 13, 2009 Sophomore outfielder Zach Frentsos (Delaware/Hayes) and junior righthander Matthew Struble (Defiance/Edon) were first-team All-NCAC selections, freshman second baseman James DiBiasio (Westlake) was a second-team all-conference choice, and sophomore righthander Eric Livingston (Delaware/Hayes) and junior catcher Steve Ruygrok (Centennial, Colo./Cherry Creek) were honorable mention picks. DiBiasio was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year. He batted .375 with 2 home runs and 18 RBI. The Bishops' leadoff hitter, he compiled an on-base percentage of .450, led the team with 13 stolen bases, and led the Bishops and ranks fifth in the NCAC in runs scored (43). Frentsos became a fixture in centerfield and led the Bishops with a .409 batting average. He hit 1 home run and drove in 33 runs this season. Struble was the Bishops' No. 1 pitcher for most of the season and led the team with 6 wins. He compiled a 6-2 record and his 4.01 earned run average ranks fifth in the NCAC. Livingston moved into the No. 2 spot in the Bishop rotation and had a record of 3-2. His 3.22 earned run average ranks third in the NCAC. Livingston also saw time in the outfield, batting .330 with 4 home runs and 24 RBI. Ruygrok, the Bishops' starting catcher for the last 3 seasons, batted .308 with 3 home runs and 25 RBI. Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 24-16 record. The Bishops tied for the NCAC West Division pennant and were the No.1 seed from the West in the NCAC tournament. |
