Sewanee 2, Ohio Wesleyan 1

[ Mimi Anthony ]Freshman attacker Mimi Anthony (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook School) scored to erase a 1-0 deficit, but Sewanee took the lead with a second-half goal and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference action on Saturday at Selby Field.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when Lynn Hancock scored from a scramble in front of the Ohio Wesleyan cage.

Ohio Wesleyan evened the game later in the period as sophomore attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) ripped a shot at the Sewanee goal. Tiger goalkeeper Clarkie Crawford was there for the save, but the rebound went to Anthony, who tucked the ball into the right side of the cage to make it 1-1 with 6:30 left in the half.

Sewanee took the lead early in the second half as Julie Wilson lifted a shot from the right side to the left post, where Hancock tipped it in for a 2-1 lead.

Sewanee outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 19-16. Junior Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) finished with 10 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Crawford had 8 saves in the Tiger cage.
