Freshman attacker Macie Miller (Kettering/Fairmont) scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime period to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Wittenberg in the Battling Bishops' North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday in Springfield.
With Ohio Wesleyan threatening in the Wittenberg end, Tiger goalkeeper Liana Began stopped a Bishop shot. Sophomore attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) was there for the rebound and fired a shot, which Miller tipped into the cage to end the game with 8:24 left in the first overtime period.
Wittenberg had taken a 1-0 lead on a rebound goal by Tori Casanta after a penalty corner.
The Bishops responded during the second half as sophomore attacker Lilly Jianas (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Pembroke Hill) scored off a penalty corner with 23:17 left in regulation time.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wittenberg, 15-14. Junior Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) finished with 12 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Began finished with 9 saves in the Tiger cage.
