Sophomore attacker Lilly Jianas (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Pembroke Hill) scored the game-winning goal to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Roanoke in non-conference play on Sunday in Salem, Va.

The Bishops jumped to a quick 1-0 lead on a score by sophomore attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) just over a minute into the game, and that was how the first half would end.

Roanoke answered just as quickly to open the second half, getting a goal by Mariah Vietri just over a minute into the action.

Jianas tallied the game-winner from point-blank range, knocking a shot from 3 yards out past Roanoke keeper Cristina Scichilone with 9:09 left in regulation time.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Roanoke, 14-5. Junior Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) had 2 saves for the Bishops, while Scichilone finished with 8 saves for Roanoke.
