Ohio Wesleyan 1, Oberlin 0

Oct. 1, 2008

[ Macie Miller ]Freshman attacker Macie Miller (Kettering/Fairmont) scored the game-winning goal as Ohio Wesleyan remained unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 1-0 win over Oberlin on Wednesday at Selby Field.

The Bishops took the lead just over 10 minutes into the game when sophomore attacker Caiti Goodman (Washington, D.C./Bethesda-Chevy Chase (Md.)) took a shot from the left side and Miller tipped it into the Yeowomen cage with 24:12 remaining in the first half.

Oberlin keeper Manya Lulek kept the Yeowomen in the game, making a save on a breakaway by sophomore attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) shortly thereafter. Lulek thwarted a pair of Ohio Wesleyan scoring chances during the second half, denying a pair of shots by freshman attacker Abigail Walsh (Millville, Mass./Blackstone-Millville) in rapid-fire succession, and making a kick save on a shot by freshman midfielder Jen Doud (Collingswood, N.J.) after a Bishop penalty corner.

The Ohio Wesleyan defense turned in a stellar effort of its own, however, holding the Yeowomen without a shot during the 70 minutes of regulation play.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Oberlin, 33-0. Junior Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) was not tested in the Bishop cage, while Lulek finished with 14 saves for Oberlin.
