Rochester 4, Ohio Wesleyan 0

Rochester erupted for 3 goals in an 8-minute span of the first half and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference play on Sunday at Selby Field.

The Yellowjackets got on the scoreboard in the 14th minute when Christi Bottcher scored on a penalty corner, with Erica Gelb assisting on the play.

Rochester made it a 2-0 lead after another penalty corner, when Lara Bucarey passed the ball ahead to Gelb, who turned inside and hit the back of the cage with 16:11 left in the first half.

Kyra Pinsky extended the Rochester lead to 3-0 when she took a shot which was saved by Ohio Wesleyan keeper Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett), but Pinsky followed the shot and poked the rebound into the cage with 13:34 remaining in the half.

The Yellowjackets finished off the day's scoring midway through the second half on another penalty corner, when Anna Dobrzynski knocked home a rebound with 14:22 left in regulation time.

Ohio Wesleyan had a chance to get on the scoreboard in the closing minutes of regulation time. After a Bishop penalty corner, a foul was called during a scrum in front of the Rochester cage and sophomore attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) was awarded a penalty stroke, but Yellowjacket keeper Danielle Pearson stopped the shot to preserve the shutout.

Rochester outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 18-12. Murray made 6 saves during the first half, and freshman Liz Searfos (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) had 1 save during the second half. Pearson finished with 4 saves in the Rochester cage.
