![]() 2nd of 14 at OWU/Strimer Memorial Invitational April 11, 2009 Olivet won the tournament with a total of 600, edging Ohio Wesleyan by 8 shots. Mount Union finished third at 615, followed by Hope (618), Otterbein (619), Wittenberg (623), Denison (634), Spalding (636), and Wooster (638). Centre rounded out the top 10 team finishers with a total of 639, followed by Baldwin-Wallace (640), Capital (657), Kenyon (667), and Hiram (719). Olivet's Eric Ross and Mount Union's Lucas Murray tied for medalist honors at 142. Murray had the individual lead after the first round with a 69, with Ross a shot behind at 70. Nieman finished in a tie for sixth place among individuals with a 150. Junior Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) tied for 19th place at 153, junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) tied for 22nd place with a 154, senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) tied for 27th place at 155, and junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) tied for 41st place at 159. Ohio Wesleyan players competing as individuals included sophomore Scott Morris (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), who tied for 13th place with a 152, senior Kyle Martin (Dublin/Wellington) and junior Michael Sarap (Cambridge), who tied for 19th place at 153, and senior Adam Claytor (Columbus/Wellington), who tied for 22nd place at 154. The Strimer Memorial Invitational honors the memory of coach Bob Strimer, who was involved in Ohio Wesleyan athletics for over half a century. During his tenure at Ohio Wesleyan, he served as athletics director for 22 years. He also served as head basketball coach, head golf coach, head baseball coach and was an assistant coach in football and track & field. After his retirement, Strimer remained active in athletics, alumni and development affairs for over 2 decades. Final Results (pdf document) |
