at Fossum Invitational

[ Andy Schillig ]Senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) was leading Ohio Wesleyan after the first round of the Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University on Saturday at Forest Akers Golf Club in East Lansing, Mich.

Michigan State was leading the field with a 289, followed by Ball State with a 302. Cal State-Bakersfield was in third place with a 305, followed by South Carolina-Upstate (311), Ohio Wesleyan and Waterloo (320), Binghamton (322), Long Island-Brooklyn (323), Ohio University (325), and Northern Colorado (328).

Saturday's second round was suspended.

Schillig was tied for 16th place among individuals with a 77.

Senior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) and junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) were tied for 27th place with an 80, junior Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was tied for 42nd place at 83, and junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) was tied for 46th place with an 84.

The tournament is scheduled to resume on Sunday.
