5th of 10 at Fossum Invitational

[ Jeff Nieman ]Senior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State University on Saturday and Sunday at Forest Akers Golf Club in East Lansing, Mich.

Michigan State won the tournament with a 714, followed by Ball State with a 747. South Carolina-Upstate finished in third place at 750, followed by Cal State-Bakersfield (751), Ohio Wesleyan (765), Ohio University (773), Northern Colorado (786), Waterloo (792), Binghamton (794), and Long Island-Brooklyn (795).

Saturday's suspended second round was resumed on Sunday, and Sunday's scheduled third round was shortened to 9 holes and played on the course's back 9.

Nieman finished fourth among individuals with a 45-hole total of 181.

Senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) finished in a tie for 16th place at 188, junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) tied for 38th place with a 198, junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) tied for 43rd place at 201, and junior Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) tied for 45th place with a 202.
