at NCAC Invitational

[ Jeff Nieman ]Senior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) was leading the field as Ohio Wesleyan took the lead in the team standings after the first 2 rounds of the NCAC Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College on Saturday at the Meadville Golf Club.

Ohio Wesleyan was leading the tournament with a 36-hole total of 606, with Wittenberg 8 shots behind at 614. Allegheny was in third place at 619, followed by Wabash (635), Denison (642), Kenyon (648), Wooster (656), Hiram (715), and Oberlin (842).

The 54-hole event is the last of 4 regular-season tournaments which count toward determining the North Coast Athletic Conference's automatic qualifer for the NCAA Division III championships.

Nieman was in first place among individuals with a 36-hole total of 145.

Senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) was tied for second place at 151, junior Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was tied for ninth place at 155, junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) was tied for 12th place with a 156, and junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) was tied for 26th place at 165.

The tournament's third round was scheduled for Sunday.
