![]() at NCAA Division III championship May 15, 2009 Host Methodist turned in the best round of Friday's competition, shooting a 289 to take over the lead in the team standings with a 54-hold total of 871. Oglethorpe shot a 290 on Friday to move into second place, 4 shots behind Methodist, and second-round leader LaVerne compiled a 302 on Friday and was in third place at 877. Texas-Tyler was in fourth place at 886, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (889) and St. John's (894). Ohio Wesleyan shot a 305 on Friday and was tied for seventh place with Huntingdon, each with an 896. Otterbein was in ninth place with an 899. Skidmore rounded out the top 10 teams with a 902, followed by Redlands (906), Washington & Jefferson (907), LaGrange (911), Nebraska Wesleyan (912), Washington & Lee (916), Wisconsin-Stout (917), Transylvania (919), Central (922), and Emory (923). Franklin & Marshall completed the top 20 teams with a 926, followed by Maryville (930), Monmouth (932), and Carnegie Mellon (940). Nieman had the Bishops' best round of the day, shooting a 72, to move into a tie for 13th place in the individual standings with a 221. Senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) carded a 76 on Friday and was tied for ninth overall with a 220. Junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) shot an 80 on Friday and was tied for 52nd place at 228, junior Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) fired an 80 on Friday and was tied for 78th place with a 232, and junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) had a 77 on Friday and was tied for 80th place at 233. Mitchell Fedorka of La Verne was on top of the individual leaderboard with a 212, followed by teammate Rizal Amin at 214. Matt Bova of Methodist and Olafur Loftsson of Oglethorpe were tied for third place at 216. The NCAA Division III championship tournament is scheduled to conclude with the fourth round on Saturday.
