1st of 11 at OWU Fall Intercollegiate

[ Jordan Benner ]Junior Jordan Benner (Beavercreek) shared medalist honors to lead Ohio Wesleyan to the team title at the OWU Fall Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Oakhaven Golf Club.

Ohio Wesleyan won the tournament with a total of 580 to 593 for second-place Carnegie Mellon. Denison finished third at 595, followed by DePauw (598), Baldwin-Wallace (599), Otterbein and Muskingum (603), Wittenberg (604), Washington & Jefferson (631), Capital (648) and Ohio Northern (650).

Benner shot a 142 to share medalist honors with Denison's Rob Parks. It marked the second straight year in which Benner was the tournament medalist. He fired a 141 to win the 2007 edition of the tournament.

Senior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) finished fourth with a 144, junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) tied for fifth place at 145, senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) tied for 13th place with a 149, and senior Adam Claytor (Columbus/Wellington) tied for 68th place at 165.

Ohio Wesleyan players competing as individuals included freshman Caleb Chiero (Westerville/Central), who tied for eighth place with a 146; junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg), who tied for 13th place at 149; senior Kyle Martin (Dublin/Wellington), who tied for 23rd place at 152; and freshman Nate Fridley (Sidney/Lehman Catholic), who tied for 29th place with a 153.
